Envision App Version 3.4: Revamped Describe Scene and Enhancing Ask Envision!
Welcome to the latest update of the Envision App. Here’s what’s new in version 3.4.0:

• Revamped Describe Scene: Now, not only can you select between a short or long description after capturing an image in Describe Scene, but you can also opt to directly engage with our new, exciting feature—‘Ask Envision about Images’. This allows you to ask questions about the image immediately, enhancing your interaction.
• Adjustable Timer in Describe Scene: Set a 3-second timer to suit your pace of capturing. scene: take it slow or skip the wait.
• Upgraded Envision It: Access the familiar ‘Envision It’ feature through the share sheet, and now with ‘Ask Envision’, start inquiring about images from your gallery right away.
• Envision in Apple Shortcuts: On iOS and iPadOS seamlessly integrate Envision with Apple’s Shortcuts app to create customized shortcuts that fit your needs.

We’re thrilled to introduce an exciting new feature to the Envision App – “Ask Envision about Text.”

This innovative feature allows you to seamlessly engage with your scanned documents and library content by simply asking questions to the assistant. Whether you need summaries, translations, or insights into specific details, “Ask Envision about Text” has you covered and can be accessed from the Reader.

To enhance the accessibility and convenience of this feature, we’re also introducing a new “Voice Mode.” With Voice Mode, you can interact with the AI by simply using your voice, eliminating the need for typing. Speak your questions to the app, and it will provide you with the information you seek.

• Document Reader will automatically try to check the language of the document and read it in the best possible way, by disabling the “Auto Language Detection” the app will only read in your selected preferred language.

• We had an issue with the Reading Language screen where Hebrew speakers couldn’t find it in the list of supported reading languages. We’ve fixed it and apologise profusely for the confusion. Hebrew speakers should now be able to select Hebrew from the list of reading languages and use it to read PDFs, documents, etc. just like before. Just click on the Reading Language button on the Text Tab.

Envision 3.0 is out and if you update to this version you’ll be able to use Envision entirely free of cost. We’d like to thank all our subscribers over the years for their support of the app. It’s with your help that we’re now able to offer the app to the everyone in the blind and visually impaired community across the world!

• Restoring your subscription in the Help Tab, Check Subscriptions, restore.

• Envision It now opens the app’s Document Reader. Lets you do more than just read text. There is translate, Auto Play reads text once loaded and you can save your processed image with description in the export (bottom navigation), save the image with description.

• Overall Document Reader processing and stability. Making sure to load all the pages of your document. Apply your settings for Automatic Column Detection. (Help tab setting or Reader Settings)

• Describe Scene caption accuracy. Results should be given reducing the "Unable to generate captions" response.
• Document Scan cropping accuracy. Even with other text in frame scanning, a document should only display that text within that document.
• Color Detection picking of color from frame accuracy. Should pick color in the center of the crosshair.

• Checking for Wifi Connection and informs the user. It will disable a few features: Scan barcode, Describe Scene, Online Text Recognition (Only use offline, disable help tab setting), Document Text, Scan multiple pages, Teach Envision, and Envision Library import
• Document Reader stability. Failed pages will be able to re-send pages once the user is back online. Caching saving and updating them in the process
• Caching happens when you've selected a file and have gone back from the document reader. We store this when you re-select that same file it will load the pages from the previous processing and continue processing the rest of the pages

• You can now continue reading a document while you're outside of the app with 'Background play'. Besides that we've updated the localised strings for Turkish and Italian.

• Translate: with Envision you can translate documents you scan or import into the app! Envision will automatically detect the language of the page and translate these documents entirely offline in over 50 languages

• This update brings a whole new column detection feature to the Envision App. You can now read columned text, such as the ones found in textbooks and magazines, with ease. In our tests so far, it outperforms all other text recognition apps when it comes to column detection. Full disclosure: it does struggle with some newspapers which either have tightly packed columns or unusual fonts. In most neatly designed documents, it should work smoothly. Pick up something around you and give it a try
